Where It All Began
Oceanair UK Ltd was founded, bringing together two experienced industry professionals with a focus on air conditioning and HVAC system distribution, laying the foundations of our technical expertise.
From a warehouse in the East Midlands, the business began trading and steadily building its reputation with some of the world's leading HVAC manufacturers.
Standing on Our Own Feet
The business consolidated under sole ownership, giving it a clearer direction and a stronger platform for long-term growth. A defining moment that shaped the focused, relationship-led culture Oceanair is known for today.
Bringing It Together
Through a decisive move, Oceanair expanded its foundations by bringing a complementary business under the same roof, strengthening its supply chain, its customer relationships and its overall position in the market.
A New Home and a New Chapter
The business relocated to purpose-built premises in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, providing the space and infrastructure needed to support its growing ambitions. This same year, Panasonic, one of the world's most respected HVAC brands, joined the portfolio following its acquisition of Sanyo's product range.
National Recognition
Oceanair was awarded Distributor and Wholesaler of the Year, beating out a number of large national competitors. Recognition that the business had well and truly arrived on the national stage.
Leading the Way on Low Carbon
Oceanair was named the UK’s first Carbon Trust Heat Pump Accredited Supplier, cementing its position as a trusted authority in heat pumps and low‑carbon HVAC systems.
The Daikin Partnership
A major milestone. Oceanair partnered with Daikin, one of the world's largest and most respected HVAC manufacturers, significantly expanding its product range and further strengthening its standing with customers across the UK.
Adapting and Investing
Like many businesses, Oceanair navigated the challenges of the pandemic with focus and resilience. During this period, a key strategic hire was made, bringing in a dedicated Air to Water Specialist to lead the company's growing heat pump offering and prepare the business for what was coming next.
Making Space for Growth
A second warehouse unit was taken on in Mansfield, expanding Oceanair's HVAC distrubution capabilities whilst simultaneously creating the physical space needed to bring the Heat Pump Training Academy to life.
The Academy Opens Its Doors
The Oceanair Heat Pump Training Academy launched, reinforcing our commitment to technical HVAC training, system knowledge and best‑practice low‑carbon heating installations. A proud moment, and one that reflects the company's commitment to raising standards across the industry.
A New Era Begins
Oceanair became part of the MKM family, combining specialist HVAC expertise with the scale and infrastructure of the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant. Robert Barnes joined as Managing Director, bringing fresh energy and ambition to lead the business into its next chapter.
Scotland Comes Onboard
The opening of Oceanair businesses in Perth and Macmerry marked the expansion of a plumbing and heating merchant network built on specialist HVAC knowledge, supporting trade customers across the UK.

Oceanair Airdrie opened its doors, continuing the expansion of the branch network and demonstrating the real momentum behind the business as it grows its national footprint.
